Is technology helping or hindering you?

Is technology helping or hindering you?

If you do nothing else this week…

Think about how you use technology.

Is it supporting you or is it using up precious time? Do you mindlessly pick up your phone and check your emails or social media? We often do this without ever even being conscious of it.

Tim Ferriss, American entrepreneur and author of the renowned book “The 4-Hour Work Week,” describes the steps he takes to stop the noise from negatively impacting his life. Tim lets technology work for him, not the other way around. Let’s just say that not one of his close friends has ever heard his ringtone.

What are we reading this week?

“Atomic Habits” by James Clear.

Arianna Huffington, founder of Thrive Global and cofounder of the Huffington Post, says it’s one of her favorite books of all time, and we can see why. “Atomic Habits” was originally published in 2018, but it is as relevant today as it was three years ago – particularly in light of the global pandemic and how some of us (understandably) may have slipped into habits that are not serving us. James Clear is a leading expert on habit formation, and he writes clearly and passionately about how to break bad habits and form good habits in their place.

A quote we’re thinking about this week

Compassion is the antidote to shame, and everybody fails at some point.

We recently came across this fascinating blog about how leaders in the workplace should meet failure with compassion. In every walk of life, we should never shame someone for a task that hasn’t turned out as expected. We all mess up at some point, and treating failure as an integral part of a growth process creates a workplace culture that we all want to be a part of. Want to know more?
